Cognitive Hypnotherapy
I first studied Hypnotherapy in 2008, going on to study under Trevor Sylvester at the famous Quest Institute, qualifying with Distinction, as a Cognitive Hypnotherapist and NLP practitioner.
Our approach is significantly different from the traditional schools of Hypnotherapy. We draw on recent discoveries and ideas from Evolutionary Psychology, Positive Psychology, Cognitive theory and NLP and incorporate them into a modern idea of hypnosis to provide a framework for therapy. We do not advocate one single approach as the answer to all life's problems. Cognitive Hypnotherapy uses a range of techniques drawn from different disciplines that have been found to be the most effective tools for change so far. These are moulded into an approach tailored for specific needs of each person.
Hypnosis uses mind-states that we all enter naturally on a daily basis; who hasn't lost themselves in their thoughts on the drive to work, or missed what your partner or boss was saying to you, because your mind was somewhere else. These are examples of what we call a trance state.
As cognitive hypnotherapist we utilise these natural trance states to help someone to change, from their problem state, to their solution state, in the shortest possible time.
Each persons pattern is formed uniquely, even if the name given to it is shared by many. Consequently each will require a different sequence of techniques, connected together by a pattern of suggestion based on their individual way of thinking.
Cognitive Hypnotherapy is a therapy where we work together, when my role is to guide you, to finding your own solution to your problem. I will not have any control over you or dictate what is best for you. The answer to your problem is within you and we work together to find the solution.
Neuro Linguistic Programming
NLP has a central place in Cognitive Hypnotherapy - it provides the principles of many of the change techniques, as well as being a great tool for understanding the differences in the way people think.
Neuro Linguistic Programming is the study of how each individual makes sense of his or her world, uniquely, through different personality patterns and sensory filters.

How many session will I need ?
The Hypnotherapy method I use follows the principle of Brief Therapy - that is, I will try to help you resolve the issue that is troubling you in the shortest time possible, whilst still adhering to exceptionally high standards. This is to help keep cost down for you and significantly increase the chance that you can sustain any changes you make, by yourself, without becoming dependent on ongoing or long term treatment. I do not ask you to sign up for a certain number of sessions from the beginning - we simply book them session by session until we feel you have resolved the issues or that you are ready to deal with things on your own.
If you are uncertain that Cognitive Hypnotherapy is right for you, or would like to discuss your problem first, please call 0115 9306582 and I will be happy to go through anything with you.
